PhD student on Thermoelectric Materials Development

The Laboratory of Solid State Chemistry at Empa http://www.empa.ch/plugin/template/empa/*/35380/---/l=1 is developing perovskite-type compounds and nanostructured composites for potential applications as functional materials in renewable energy- and environmental technologies. Applied methods are chimie douce techniques for nanostructured materials production, XRD, ND, EXAFS and TEM for the structural characterisation of new materials. XRF, ICP-OES, TGA with coupled mass spectrometry and TEM, SEM/EDX for the chemical and morphological characterisation.
For our project we seek to recruit a

Thermoelectric generator for automotive application

The recent development of new thermoelectric materials and the increasing environmental constraints have promote the search for solution of conversion of heat into electrical energy using the thermoelectric way.

The present project is devoted to the development of thermoelectric generators for automotive applications. With 70% of its energy lost in the form of heat, a vehicle is today an important target for the thermoelectric generation.

Nano-TE Postdoc at Univ. of South Florida

A postdoctoral position in experimental Materials Physics is available
in the Novel Materials Laboratory in the Department of Physics at the
University of South Florida. The position focuses on the synthesis,
structural and chemical characterization and physical properties
measurements of bulk nanocomposites for thermoelectric applications.
Experience with synthesis of nanocrystals, solution-phase and other
techniques, is necessary as well as densification and transport
measurements on bulk materials. Excellent communication skills (oral and

Consultancy Role

A candidate with a strong knowledge of thermoelectrics and a working knowledge of thermionics is required for a short-term and part-time consultancy role which could grow into a long-term commitment.

The company in question has developed a technology based on a combination of solid-state thermoelectric and thermionic principles, and requires someone who is able to get up to speed with the technology in a short space of time, and then able to clearly explain it to other scientists, engineers, and laypeople, in meetings and in writing.

Postdoc position at UC Berkeley

Postdoc research position open at UC Berkeley.

We are investigating novel methods for microscale thermoelectric power generation device manufacturing. We are developing thermoelectric viscous slurries for printing thick film thermoelectric structures. Our focus is on process development.

We seek an applicant to help with materials synthesis, characterization, measurement of transport properties. The applicant should have a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline. Experience with characterization of materials is desired.

Need a thermoelectric job

I am a PhD candidate at the UK center for applied energy research. I am planning on defending my dissertation by the last week of March, 2008.

I am seeking a job in the areas of mechanical, thermal fluids or thermoelectric power generation.

Application for postdoctoral position!

I am a Ph.D candidate in University of Science and Technology Beijing of China, expected to graduate in Oct.2008. I have studied for 3 years on development and application of new thermoelectric materials.I want very much to obtain a post-doctoral research position in a thermoelectric research group.

Thanks for your any possible help!

Sincerely yours.

Postdoc Positions in Canada

Postdoc Positions in Canada: Synthesis and Characterization of Thermoelectric Layered Tellurides

The applicants will investigate high performance thermoelectric materials; one project is co-funded by the Ontario Center of Excellence and General Motors of Canada, the other by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and General Motors of Canada. Both projects are involved with material synthesis and structural characterization via diffraction, physical property measurements and SEM/TEM studies.

Postdoc position:Synthesis and Characterization of new thermoelectric oxides. CRISMAT Lab, Caen, France.

In the CRISMAT laboratory, an intense research program is dedicated to the investigation of the thermoelectric properties of different families of oxides. We are currently looking for one post-doctoral fellow, for one year. The applicant will be in charge of the synthesis of these oxides by standard solid state chemistry, their structural characterization by X-Ray diffraction, and the measurements of their transport properties (resistivity, thermal conductivity and Seebeck coefficient). This work is closely connected to an industrial contract.
