Thermoelectric generator for automotive application

The recent development of new thermoelectric materials and the increasing environmental constraints have promote the search for solution of conversion of heat into electrical energy using the thermoelectric way.

The present project is devoted to the development of thermoelectric generators for automotive applications. With 70% of its energy lost in the form of heat, a vehicle is today an important target for the thermoelectric generation.
Located in Normandy (France) the CRISMAT laboratory (Caen) is specialized in the search for new materials including thermoelectric materials. With the collaboration of the CNRT (Caen), it actually develops thermoelectric generators for intermediate and high temperature applications.
A three year engineer position is proposed, in order to develop thermoelectric generators for automotive applications.

The engineer in charged of this project will have to design, build and test the thermoelectric modules. He will be involved in the overall developpement of the generator including the collaboration with industrials of the automotive area, equipment suppliers and end-users.

Tasks:
• Design of thermoelectric modules.
• Assembly and test.
• Management of the constraints of assembly. (thermomechanical and electrical).

Skills:
Material Engineer. Knowledges of the problems of thermics and mechanics is desirable.

Localization: CRISMAT ENSICAEN
Position: Ingenieur de recherche (CNRS).
